Students at Park and Taylor will be working hard in the library this year. Kindergarten students will be learning all about the library, including how to care for a book, story elements, and the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. In first grade we will be focusing on story elements, author studies, and learning how to pick a book that is ‘just right.’ Learning to use the computers to find books, the Dewey Decimal System, and expanding the use of the library is what second graders can expect this year in the library. In third grade we will focus on beginning researching skills and non-fiction text features. Fourth graders will be creating projects and learning to use technology. At Taylor, fifth and sixth graders will be learning how to evaluate websites, take notes, and use technology to teach others. I look forward to an exciting year.
